1. THE 1200 mA TWO-DRIVE SWEET SPOT
A Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 shares a single 1200 mA (1.2A) power ceiling across all 4 USB ports. Plugging in 3+ unpowered readers chokes the 5V rail! Keep ≤ 2 USB drives on the board, or use a powered USB hub.
2. THE 'ESC' KEY BOOT RESCUE TRICK
If a Pi boots with fewer than 2 USB drives attached and pauses looking for a missing RAID UUID during fsck, don't panic—just tap ESC on the keyboard to skip straight to the console!
3. THE 50-YEAR MERCURY THERMOSTAT CHECK
